Mis-sold Payment Protection Insurance
If you have taken out a Credit Card, it is likely you were also sold Payment Protection Insurance (PPI). If you were, you could have been sold a policy you did not need, and could claim back thousands of pounds.
What is payment protection insurance?
Payment protection, or card protection as it is sometimes known, is an insurance policy sold to you to cover your repayments in the event you could not meet them yourself due to an accident, sickness or unemployment.
Why has PPI been mis-sold?
Many Credit Card providers were very aggressive in the way they sold PPI policies. Many just wanted you to take the policy, but did not check if the cover was actually right for you. All too often the policy you took out would have been worthless if you had needed to claim.
Was my PPI policy mis-sold?
There are many reasons why a policy could have been mis-sold. If any of the following apply to you, your policy was very likely mis-sold:
You were out of work or self employed when you took out the Credit Card.
The terms and conditions of your Credit Card were not explained fully to you
You were put under any pressure to take out the policy
You were forced to take the PPI policy as a condition of taking the Credit Card
You were not told of any of the exclusions which could have prevented you from claiming
You were not told you can get PPI from other financial service providers?
You were not asked if you already had PPI cover from other loans, credit cards or your mortgage
You were told you had to pay the PPI policy fees up front
Can you claim back my PPI premiums?
Yes, we can claim back all the premiums you paid for your policy. What is more, we can also claim interest on the premiums you have paid, which can really add to the total you get back.
How do I make a claim?
Just use the form to the right or call us and we will get your claim underway. We will do everything for you. All you will need to do is sign a form of authority which gives us permission to act on your behalf.
How much does it cost to make a claim?
We do not charge you a penny until we have reclaimed all your Credit Card premiums, plus any interest. At that point we charge 25% of any settlement we have received. If we cannot reclaim anything for you, you do not pay us a penny.
Does it take a long time?
Typically, a claim can take between 2 and 6 months depending on which Credit Card provider we are dealing with. However, we cannot guarantee that these time frames will be met but we will make every effort to ensure that the providers comply with the Financial Ombudsman Service guidelines.
